Attention : Sharpen only the bevel, do not sharpen the flat side of the blade.
Leave the burr on the blade-edge, it will actually help the cut.

Proceed in the order of the drawings above.
A very slight counter-bevel is necessary so that the blade is not damaged by colliding with the opposing blade during pruning. The counter-bevel gives some clearance ti the sharpened blade.
